Aerial view of Ninilchik village, early 1950's

The aerial of Ninilchik village. Top of photo includes the Sterling Highway. In center on top of the hill, the territorial school can be seen quite close to the Russian Orthodox Church. The wide beach served as the landing strip. Mail was brought to the village by air before the Sterling Highway was completed. Burteson's was an early cannery seen here. It later burned down.
