Biography

Born in Stockton, California on Dec. 29, 1953, Prof. Ellis is a first generation California Okie. He graduated from California State University -Sacramento in May 1977 and moved to Kenai, Alaska on July 41977, where he has lived ever since. He worked in the oilfield industry on the North Slope with various contractors for 12 years. Soon after, he chose to further pursue his academic goals and attended Kenai Peninsula College, where he earned degrees in both Industrial Process Instrumentation and Process Technology. After graduation, Prof. Ellis then went to work in the chemical industry as a process operator, producing anhydrous ammonia for 15 years. After the plant closed, he began teaching at Kenai Peninsula College as an adjunct professor and eventually began teaching full-time as Assistant Professor of Process Technology. He is currently on his sixth year of service.
