This 16-credit hour KPC certificate provides vocational training for entry level positions in the field of corrections.  The certificate can be extended to an Undergraduate Certificate, Corrections with the completion of additional courses.

There are many opportunities within public safety and the Alaska Department of Corrections:

Correctional Officers

Maintain security within the instituition and oversee the health and safety of staff and prisoners.

Probation/Parole Officers

Promote public safety and offender habilitation. PO's supervise adult felony offenders under the jurisdiction of the Superior Court or Board of Parole.  

Criminal Justice Technicians

Provide paraprofessional assistance to Correctional Officers and Parole Officers alike.  Often move into other roles later in their career.
