Resource Room

The Resource room houses many books, catalogs, handouts and internet resources to assist with career exploration and job searches. Utilize the two computers for career, college and job market research, as well as to prepare résumés, job search letters and apply for jobs, internships and other career development opportunities. A scanner and typewriter are also available for completing job and other applications. Use the Resource Room and get career assistance during walk-in hours, or by appointment, Monday through Friday.

Career Counseling

The CCEC Programs Manager is available Monday through Friday, by appointment, to provide career counseling, résumé and job search letter writing and interview preparation assistance, as well as to administer various career interest assessment instruments to individuals. Career development workshops, campus and community presentations, and mock interviews may also be arranged.

Employment and Career Development

In addition to the new CCN Services described above, CCEC is maintaining our opportunity boards in front of the Resource Room. We post a range of employment and career opportunities, including part-time and full-time jobs, as well as internships, and other career directed instruction, experiences, awards and events.

Job applicants for University of Alaska jobs may obtain on-site assistance and use a computer and scanner if needed to submit their applications at the CCEC Resource Room, during walk-in hours, or by appointment, Monday through Friday.

Cooperative Internship Program

KPC Career & Community Engagement Center coordinates a Cooperative Internship Program (CIP). Through the CIP qualified KPC students have the opportunity to earn academic credit in their major while acquiring practical skills. With guidance from KPC faculty and the Career & Community Engagement Center, students may integrate academic study with a planned, supervised work experience in the community—allowing students to test academic skills in a professional setting and explore career opportunities.

Service-Learning

The KPC Career & Community Engagement Center connects KPC faculty and students to community-based organizations in order to address community needs and enhance and deepen student learning. Service-Learning is a teaching and learning strategy that integrates meaningful community service with academic rigor and student reflection to enrich the learning experience, teach civic responsibility, and strengthen communities. The Career & Community Engagement Center houses a service-learning and civic engagement library of resources and can provide technical assistance for faculty, students and community-based organizations desiring to participate in community-based learning. Contact Krista Timlin at 262-0337 for more information.
