Kenai Peninsula College/UAA is offering web-based Elluminate Live (E-Live) classes that are delivered in real-time so that all students in the class meet simultaneously with their instructor in cyberspace. This technology allows students and instructors to engage with each other by talking with full, 2-way audio, chat online, share video, and even view what the instructor writes on a virtual whiteboard or demonstrates in class specific software.
In order to participate in E-Live delivered classes, students’ computers must meet minimum system requirements, connection speeds, have Java Web Start, a headset to listen and speak into (available locally and in the KPC Bookstore) and must complete the Elluminate Live configuration process.
Students are encouraged to attend one of the online orientation sessions prior to the beginning of classes. The E-Live orientation sessions will be offered online.
In order to attend one of the E-Live orientation sessions, students must configure their computer correctly.
Go to http://elive.uaa.alaska.edu (new ‘configuration room’)
- Select “UAA Configuration Room” from list.
- New screen asks for
- Login Name. Type in first and last name (anything should work).
- Password field: leave blank
- Click login and ELive session will be loaded.
- To finish the initial install, students then go to
- Tools
- Audio
- Audio Setup Wizard

This new technology allows students to be in a virtual classroom in real-time with fellow students and their instructor. Students should be very familiar with the E-live delivery system in order to get the most out of this new technology.
