The Kenai Peninsula College (KPC) Associate of Applied Science (AAS), General Business degree is a two-year degree program providing a solid business foundation and preparation for career advancement. Graduates will be able to practice relevant business skills, meet the diverse needs of a business to achieve organizational goals, start and manage their own small business, communicate effectively, and/or manage their business affairs with professionalism, integrity, and a spirit of inquiry. The AAS is a fully contained program that offers no certificates or minors. The business community recognizes this terminal degree as value to the person that achieved the degree. The employers in the area have employees that come to them with this degree and/or work on the degree while employed. The degree is currently only offered at/through Kenai Peninsula College’s Kenai River (KRC) and Kachemak Bay (KBC) campuses, as well as through Kodiak College, but not at the Anchorage nor Mat-Su campuses.
Major Requirement Courses
In addition to completing the AAS general degree requirements, you also must:
- Complete the following required courses:

||Introduction to Business
||Fundamentals of Supervision
||Business Law I
||Computer Concepts in Business
||Principles of Macroeconomics
||Principles of Microeconomics
||Logistics, Information Systems and Customer Service
Principles of Financial Accounting II sequence may be used to satisfy
the ACCT A201 requirement for this degree.
- Complete 6 credit of major elective courses
Advisor approved courses from the following
programs: ACCT, BA, CIS, CS, ECON
- Complete 9 credit of general electives
- A total of 60 credits is required for the degree.
