The Kenai Peninsula College (KPC) Associate of Applied Science (AAS), General Business degree is a two-year degree program providing a solid business foundation and preparation for career advancement.  Graduates will be able to practice relevant business skills, meet the diverse needs of a business to achieve organizational goals, start and manage their own small business, communicate effectively, and/or manage their business affairs with professionalism, integrity, and a spirit of inquiry. The AAS is a fully contained program that offers no certificates or minors.  The business community recognizes this terminal degree as value to the person that achieved the degree.  The employers in the area have  employees that come to them with this degree and/or work on the degree while employed.  The degree is currently only offered at/through Kenai Peninsula College’s Kenai River (KRC) and Kachemak Bay (KBC) campuses, as well as through Kodiak College, but not at the Anchorage nor Mat-Su campuses. 

Major Requirement Courses

In addition to completing the AAS general degree requirements, you also must:

  1. Complete the following required courses:

    *ACCT A201 Principles of Financial Accounting 3
    ACCT A202 Principles of Managerial Accounting 3
    BA A151 Introduction to Business 3
    BA A231 Fundamentals of Supervision 3
    BA/JUST A241 Business Law I 3
    BA A260 Marketing Practices 3
    CIS A110 Computer Concepts in Business 3
    ECON A201 Principles of Macroeconomics 3
    ECON A202 Principles of Microeconomics 3
    LGOP A110 Logistics, Information Systems and Customer Service 3
    *The ACCT A101 Principles of Financial Accounting I and ACCT A102
    Principles of Financial Accounting II sequence may be used to satisfy
    the ACCT A201 requirement for this degree.
     
  2. Complete 6 credit of major elective courses
    Advisor approved courses from the following
    programs: ACCT, BA, CIS, CS, ECON
  3. Complete 9 credit of general electives
  4. A total of 60 credits is required for the degree.
