The collection in the KRC library consists of more than 23,000 volumes, 100 magazine holdings, a numerous video tapes,DVDs, local newspapers and maps. Materials are organized according to the Library of Congress Classification System. Six computer workstations are available for student use, with access to printing for a charge.
The collection in the KBC library consists of 9000+ volumes including circulating and reference resources and media spanning academic areas. As a small holding, KBC’s collection has noted depth and breadth. Two computer stations and one printer are available for student/academic use.
Both libraries are part of the larger UAA Consortium Library system and students can place online direct requests for materials within this system. Through interlibrary loan, students and faculty have access to items held by libraries in Alaska and nationwide. Internet databases are also available to support student research. Onsite library staff assistance with research and basic library use is available to all students.
KRC and KBC patrons must present a UAA/KPC I.D. card (issued free of charge) to check out materials. Books circulate for a period of four weeks, back-issue magazines and videos circulate for one week. Materials may be renewed if not in demand; renewals may be made by phone on items that are not already overdue. Current issue magazines and reference works may not be checked out and are for library use only.
• $0.25 per book per day;
• $10 maximum fine per book;
• circulation will be blocked when fines reach $5;
• fines begin accruing immediately when book is overdue;
• $52 replacement fee if book or video is lost or damaged.
The Media Center is located in the KRC Library, and consists of a variety of presentation equipment for classroom use. Equipment reservations must be made 24 hours in advance so that library staff may pick-up and deliver equipment to classrooms on schedule. For KBC equipment, contact KBC IT Services at 235-1660.
