At the Kenai River Campus, the commons is the center of the campus community. Students congregate for socializing, eating and informal tutoring. Students often find music being played, a chess tournament going on or group study sessions. A bank of computers along one wall of the McLane Commons is available for student use. This space is the “heart” of the campus located along a wall of windows in the McLane Building overlooking the world famous Kenai River, adjacent to Student Services, the Bookstore, and Joe’s Cafe. The McLane Commons is not a quiet study area.
Upstairs in the Goodrich Building, the Riverview Commons provides for a quiet, study area for students at KRC. This area is also set up with computers along three walls for student use. The area enjoys views from windows on two sides, overlooking the Kenai River and the parking area in front of the college.
The commons at KRC can be viewed by logging onto the KRC Website and clicking on the appropriate Web cam. Several web cams are available on campus.
At the Kachemak Bay Campus, the commons is the “heart” of KBC. It is where students gather for informal study, refreshments and shared conversation. There is also a webcam in the commons area at KBC that is accessible from the homepage.
Students use the commons webcams to “wave to” family and friends and show them they really are in college!
