Summer Semester
KPC's summer semester is the perfect opportunity to focus and explore.
Students can fulfill general education requirements, replace a bad grade, get a head start on the fall semester, or get that tough math class out of the way early. The summer semester has a shorter term and smaller class sizes, offering both on-campus and online classes.
The summer semester also offers special topics and elective courses in a variety of schedules.
Most summer classes are offered at KRC in Soldotna, but KBC offers popular summer courses as well. The 2010 summer semester had almost 60 sections of courses.
Special summer programs
Every summer, KBC hosts the Kachemak Bay Writers' Conference , a nationally renowned program that brings accomplished writers and aspiring writers together at Land's End Resort on the famous Homer Spit.
The Kenai River Campus offers the Kenai Fishing Academy where anglers learn to become better at the sport. KFA provides a hybrid of classroom instruction with field work where students practice what they have learned. The program also gives instruction in river hydrology, ecology and the historical aspects of the resource. Attendees learn to take care of their catch properly by practicing fillet techniques and proper processing details for preservation of the fish.
