Human Services

Understanding individuals and family dynamics put you in a position to help those in need.

Overview

Do you find yourself always wanting to help those less fortunate than you? Do you pride yourself on being the person who doesn't hesitate to lend a hand to someone when they need it? Human Services might be the career path for you. This UAA Human Services Associate of Applied Science and Bachelor of Human Services degrees are supported on KPC campuses to prepare students for entry-level employment with human service agencies.

Students will acquire knowledge of human behavior and relationships, knowledge of social problem areas, skills in helping approaches and problem-solving skills. Graduates can work in many different areas including (but not limited to) counseling, chemical dependency, child welfare, care coordination, disability services, social services management and corrections.

This degree, with its extensive practicum and coursework in counseling, can be a terminal degree or a foundation to articulate into the Bachelor of Human Services, Bachelor of Social Work, or Bachelor of Art in Psychology.  It is very important to work with an advisor to put together a program that meets your unique needs that will articulate and/or enhance whatever career direction you decide on.
