KPC's Kenai River Campus English as a Second Language instructor Sara Hadfield and long-time volunteer, Gail Sather, have been honored by the Alaska Adult Education Association at its annual meeting in Anchorage.

Hadfield, an ESL instructor with KRC's Learning Center for more than five years, received a professional development scholarship for continuing education. She plans to use the scholarship monies to attend the TESOL (Teachers of Speakers of Other Languages) International convention in March in Atlanta, GA.

Sather was named Volunteer of the Year for her tireless commitment and efforts tutoring English language learners for more than 11 years. Her students have greatly benefited from her dedication and thoughtfully prepared lessons, which range from beginning English grammar to preparation for the USCIS Naturalization interview.

The Learning Center will host a small gathering at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 23 at 2 p.m. in honor of Hadfield and Sather.
