Alaska Native orphans, Tyonek 1921

The children were probably orphaned as a result of a wide spread flu epidemic at this time. They are well clothed and shod, and the boys have very short haircuts. Not a smile in the group. The building could possibly be the school or a Russian Orthordox church.
