The public is invited to the G.L. Freeburg Gallery to view Rarefied Light, a renowned statewide juried photography exhibition sponsored by the non-profit Alaska Photographic Center. The exhibit will be on display from Jan. 16 through Feb. 23 in the Brockel building lobby. An opening reception will be held from 4:30 to 6 p.m, Jan 18.
The guest juror, Henry Horenstein, an American artist and photographer, selected 43 pieces of excellent fine art photography created by artists from Barrow to Juneau for this year’s show. Horenstein studied history at the University of Chicago and earned his BFA and MFA at Rhode Island School of Design, where he is now professor of photography.
In the 2017 exhibit, Tara Horton's print "Horizon: Two" was named Best of Show. Honorable Mentions were awarded to Joshua Borough's "Tradition," Christine Eagleson's "Stylist Perspective I," L.J. Evan's "Scott and Mattie," Greg Hansel's "Shelter," and Javid Kamali's "Another Ordinary Day."
