General Academic Advising
All students are strongly urged to see an academic advisor or counselor before registering. Advisors can provide specific information about programs or areas of study, including certificate/degree requirements and transfer information. Academic advisors can also help select courses and troubleshoot academic performance issues. Students experiencing academic problems should seek advising early to ensure they are accessing all resources available.
The counseling and advising department offers "real-time" office appointments through the Internet or telephone. These appointments are designed to provide information in a timely fashion and for students who wish to talk to a live person without having to visit the Kenai River Campus to talk to an academic advisor in person. Students can schedule appointments via FaceTime, Lync (like Skype) or telephone.
At the Kenai River Campus:
Get advising questions answered by e-mail or schedule an appointment to meet with a general academic advisor or counselor by calling 907-262-0383 or toll free 877-262-0330 (and ask for the Counseling and Advising desk.)
*Please note that Counseling and Advising only provides general advising such as applying for admission, completing pre-requisites, interpreting test scores, and transferring credits. After students declare a major, they will be referred to their faculty advisor for continued advising in a degree program.
