Kenai Peninsula Historical Photo Repository launched
Twenty-two years of preparation has resulted in a priceless digital archive of more than a thousand historical photographs depicting life on the Kenai in the 1950’s, 60’s and 70’s. Professor Alan Boraas worked with Marge Mullen and many other volunteers to catalog images from local homesteader collections into a database that was further refined into a web-based application by KPC programmer Jesse Glaves. http://www.kpc.alaska.edu/hp
Join Alaska's workforce with a KPC education!
KPC's one-year certificate in welding provides specific training for structural and pipe welding certification. Students gain a well-rounded education in the use of the latest welding technology, blueprint reading. Graduates of this program will be prepared for employment as structural or pipe welders, and will have a solid welding background for many mechanical trades.
New KRC Career and Technical Center
The CTC is a $14.5 million project that will will provide for continued growth in KPC’s high-demand, workforce development programs in process technology, industrial process instrumentation, and computer electronics. Construction will start during the summer 2012 with occupancy planned for August 2013.
New KRC Student Housing complex
This $17.8 million project will be funded with $16 million from state general obligation bonds and $1.8 million in state capital construction funds. Since its establishment more than 46 years ago, Kenai Peninsula College has believed student housing was needed in order to serve students in its 25,000+ square mile service area as well as from rural areas of Alaska. The new facility will give students an opportunity to pursue education and training while living in resident housing without having to transition to a large university and city. Construction will begin during summer 2012 with occupancy planned for Aug. 2013.
